leafLEAF Marque is the quality assurance scheme developed from LEAF which stands for “Linking Environment and Farming”.  It brings you food produced by farmers who are committed to improving the environment for the benefit of wildlife and the countryside.

LEAF Marque farmers are embracing the whole farm: traditional farming practices alongside the very best of modern technology to produce food grown with care for the environment.

To be eligible to market produce under LEAF Marque Assurance Scheme, growers and farmers must first join LEAF and carryout out a LEAF audit.  LEAF develops and promotes “integrated farm management” (IFM) systems which are common sense farming practices which are economically viable and environmentally responsible.  The LEAF audit is a valuable tool to assess whole farm management which helps assess current practices and identify action priorities for the future.  It fits well with farm assurance schemes which will have assessed the food health and safety issues. The LEAF audit considers other important areas such as pollution control, energy efficiency, water use efficiency, management planning, animal health and welfare and other broader environmental issues.  Memebrship of LEAF and a LEAF audit must be completed before an application to join LEAF Marque can be made.
