Q: What happens if the inspector notes a problem with my vehicle/container?
A: The inspector will notify you at the time of the inspection if there is a problem with your vehicle/container and note it on a Non-Compliance Report, a copy of which will be left with you at the end of the assessment. The inspector will explain that you have one month to rectify the problem.
Q: What happens after the inspection is carried out?
A: The inspector returns the report to SFQC where your report will be evaluated and reviewed. If there are non-compliances identified, the Scheme Manager will write acknowledging an inspection has been carried out and that evidence of satisfactory corrective action is required within one month to allow the vehicle/container to be approved. If there are no non-compliances the vehicle/container will be approved and a certificate issued.
Q: How long does the certificate last?
A: The Certificate of Approval is valid for five years from date of issue, provided the vehicle/container is not modified or refitted in any way that affects the welfare of the animals. Such modified or refitted vehicles will require a new inspection and approval before use. A robust plate, showing vehicle/container identification, certificate number and expiry date will also be issued to you to fix to the vehicle in an accessible and visible place.
Q: What happens if I do not submit satisfactory corrective action within a month?
A: If no corrective action is submitted within a month another inspection will be required if you still want your vehicle/container approved
