On receipt of a completed application form and payment an inspector will contact you to arrange an inspection. This will take place at your premises or somewhere mutually convenient, e.g. auction market, abattoir or Royal Highland Show ground.
What does the inspection involve?The inspection will involve:
• Vehicle design, construction and maintenance
• Identification of vehicle and species transported
• Pen sizes and partitions
• Loading/unloading equipment
• Provision of water & feeding equipment
• Ventilation, temperature control & monitoring
• Navigation/tracking system and journey log
SFQC will issue you with a fact sheet explaining what the inspection will involve when you apply, as there are certain derogations for vehicles only travelling between 8 & 12 hours.
Renewals:
Vehicles with Certificate's of Approval issued by SFQC will be contacted three months prior to their certificate expiring and asked to fill in a renewal form, if they wish to get their vehicle inspected and re--approved by SFQC, so that a new certificate can be issued.
