The QMS Auction Market Assurance Scheme was established to help complete the QMS assurance chain. This chain links all relevant sectors of the Scottish livestock industry from farmer to processor. It involves all key livestock markets throughout Scotland.
Auction markets play an important role in the marketing of farm assured livestock. Scheme standards have been developed to allow markets to work alongside existing Codes of Practice and reduce the handling and stress that animals face.
Membership of the scheme is voluntary. Auction markets must demonstrate strict adherence to the scheme standards which are monitored independently by SFQC.
