SFQC win contract to facilitate SOPA Organic Monitor Farm

05 October 2010

SOPA was recently awarded funding from the Scottish Government's Skills Development Scheme together with contributions from Quality Meat Scotland to establish a new organic Monitor Farm. This will replace the current farm at Balanloan on the Atholl Estates at Pitlochry.

SFQC tendered for the opportunity to facilitate this new farm and our team of environmental associate, Maggie Magee, and Development Manager, Debs Roberts, successfully delivered their vision of how this will be achieved at a tender interview at the end of August. Maggie is a self-employed agri-environment and forestry adviser who used to work with the Farming Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG). She is well acquainted with group working and farm facilitation. She aids our innovative approach with responsibility for on-farm facilitation and the organic team in the office responsible for background administration and community group communication activities.

This contract has just commenced, the Monitor Farm selection process is almost completed and the project will run for 3 years.
